Overview & Highlights

Located in the heart of Oakley, Michigan, Granny's Kitchen is a charming restaurant that perfectly captures the essence of hearty, old-fashioned American comfort food. Whether you're stopping by for a filling breakfast, a juicy burger, or a mouthwatering dinner, this cozy spot delivers a genuine taste of home with every bite.

Granny's Kitchen offers a diverse menu that showcases classic dishes crafted with care and quality ingredients. Start your meal with appetizers like their crispy Beer Battered Cheese Curds or the delectably golden Deep Fried Cauliflower, each bite delivering a satisfying crunch paired with bold flavors. For burger lovers, the menu shines with options like the Granny Chris Burger, a flavorful creation priced at $10.95, or the indulgent The Big Pig, stacked with hearty toppings at $11.95 — both promising juicy patties and perfectly melted cheese that linger on your palate long after the last bite.

If sandwiches are more your style, the choices are equally satisfying. The Granny's Reuben and the Hot Meatloaf Sandwich are especially popular, combining savory meats with rich, comforting accompaniments that speak to true home-cooked goodness. One customer marveled at the generous portion sizes, describing a sandwich so massive and layered with "3 meats, 2 cheeses, and 3 slices of bread" that it kept them delightfully full and satisfied.

Breakfast here is another highlight, with offerings that will make you feel like you’ve been invited to Grandma’s kitchen table. Imagine perfectly cooked eggs, crispy hash browns, warm biscuits smothered in creamy gravy, and sausage that one visitor boldly declared “The Best Sausage EVER!” The comforting plate of cheddar broccoli soup also stands out as a heartwarming staple that soothes the soul with every spoonful.

The dining atmosphere at Granny's Kitchen exudes genuine warmth and simplicity. The staff are known for their friendly service, making every guest feel welcome whether they’re locals or just passing through. The restaurant’s nostalgic vibe is the perfect backdrop for savoring those classic dishes that bring back memories of family meals and good company.

Regulars rave about the smoked ribs, which have earned a reputation as “to die for,” alongside a Friday fish fry featuring fresh cod and walleye that seafood lovers won’t want to miss. Although some seasonal specialties like the honey shrimp have been retired, the overall BBQ selection remains a crowd-pleaser that highlights the kitchen’s dedication to flavor and authenticity.

Granny's Kitchen might be a short drive off the beaten path on M21, but the consensus is clear: it’s worth every mile. From the down-home cooking to the welcoming environment, this small-town gem leaves a lasting impression and beckons diners back time and again for a comforting, satisfying meal.

Ordered take out and was surprised at the huge sandwich! 3 meats, 2 cheeses, 3 slices of bread. Fries were tasty, blueberry cobbler yummy and not overly sweet.

This small town restaurant is a hidden gem that you should definitely go try! Right on M21 it is a little bit of a hike but so worth it! Their ribs are to die for, with everything smoked on site. You cant go wrong with their BBQ. They have a fish fry Friday that cant be beat, that includes things like cod and walleye. We do miss the honey shrimp they discontinued though. Also check out their massive dessert fridge with anything you could ever want. The staff is attentive and welcoming, you will feel right at home.

Service, Food, Price, and overall experience was top notch. We weren’t expecting much so I didn’t bother taking photos and videos but boy did I make a mistake. This place is a must try for their delicious breakfast menu and mouth watering ribs and dinner menu

Brought my 81 year old 110 # mother here on a whim after a doctors appointment. Mom hasnt been eating much of late. Mom ate a bowl of cheddar broccoli soup as did I.. the soup is to die for! We also had a late breakfast. All of it was awesome. Eggs cooked to perfection, hash browns perfect, biscuits and gravy phenomenal and the sausage?!?!?! OMG! Best sausage EVER! Mom ate 75% of her breakfast and took home the remainder for later that day. I odered the brisket dinner for myself to go, but my mother suggested my sister would like it better so she had if for lunch the next day. She said it was simply AWESOME. Finally the service. Jennifer was a treat! An absolute delight! I am glad she was our server our very first visit as my mother commented on how delightful and funny she was... We also got 3 slices of pie to go. Cherry, apple/maple and Pumpkin cheesecake. OMG! I plan on driving the 2 hours to Midland to take my mom to her doctors visits when needed and plan on stopping by this wonderful diner every trip! You have my appetite! Next time I am getting the brisket!!!

Good old-fashioned cooking, exactly how your Grandma would make it! It is hard to find restaurants that serve liver and onions. Our first visit was great, including the waitress and service. Second visit we didn't get everything we ordered which was an added item onto our meal. I will say it was getting busy, Seats were filling up quickly. I would recommend Grandma's Kitchen for good old-fashioned food and we will visit again.

Delicious food, friendly waitstaff, and cute restaurant- might be a bit of a drive but so worth it!!!
